I made this as a big thank you for a friend at work that provides me with many of the things I need to do my job. He is a golf fanatic and even thought he would have to wrestle it away from his son who is his golf'n buddy. He about flipped out when he received it. I couldn't be there when he got it because he works out of St. Louis and I am in Denver.
A small wall hanging that I made my friend Meg for her 30th birthday that was in March. Her favorite flower. I used the state flower fabric with irises for the boarder. She didn't get it till recently. I used a paper piecing patter from this website. http://www.piecebynumber.com/pastbom/archbom.htm
Had to use up some scraps and stuff. Most of these are left over from Virginia's quilt above. This is going to either be a little cuddle quilt or a doll quilt for one of my nieces. I just sewed strip scraps together, slashed them on the diagonal and re-sewed again. Still working on the placement and how I am going to finish off the top and bottom rows since they are each a couple inches shorter than the main part. Hmmmm....
Ah, wonderful what one can do with miss cut pieces or a change of mind. Just started grabbing and sewing here. About the size of another doll quilt for my other niece. Gonna make them both beautiful rag dolls and clothing, might as well throw in the a little quilt too.
Ok, well here it is... Almost 2 years later I finally have a picture of it. I designed this quilt on EQ4 for my father in law and his wife of 18 years for Christmas 2001. It took almost longer to plan it that to actually sew it. I needed to find a pleasing setting for the amount of time I had to put it together and send it off to be quilted in Arkansas. I had about 1 1/2 months before. The pillow shams were sent to them sometime in February. I was a bit unhappy with the quilting job that was done. They didn't pay attention to the stencil that they used and what I requested. I ordered Rain Cloud, they used Rain Drop.
Wow, a 3rd scrappy type item. This was made from the leftovers of my father in laws quilt that I made for Christmas 2001. John really liked it so, maybe that is an idea for my hubby's own quilt.
A friend of mine announced in January that she was leaving in February for Taiwan to teach English for a year. I made this to help fight the homesickness that I know she will have while away. Good for hugs from home when she is lonely. Wait!!! What am I thinking, she is never really lonely just missing her other friends.
All set for a quilting class! Felt like messing with crazy quilting. I sat down New Year's Eve, since we are young but don't go out for it, and put together a bag that is big enough for my small mat and several other supplies I would need for a future quilting class. Just need to add the shoulder handles for this to be completely finished. I also made a crazy quilted needle case lined with felt which you can see on the left side next to the bag. |
